Chapter 1
“Here comes the monster… ROAR!!!!”
Aiba chuckled gleefully, as he watches his favorite nurse play around the pediatric ward, tickling captured children to bring out beaming smiles on their faces.
Becoming the head nurse at St. Charles Hospital after working as a staff nurse for five years is the best thing that has happened to Aiba. Not only did his prestigious but hard-earned title brought about the privilege of leading and directing, it also allowed Aiba to gain enough freedom to relax and observe his nurses. With observing comes lazy daydreaming, suspicious findings, unnecessary speculations and unwarranted gossip. And Aiba cannot deny that he enjoys that part of his job.
Peals of laughter echoed from the happy ward of hopeful recovering children who is now ganging up on their fallen monster. “Okay! Okay! The monster gives up!” his favorite nurse surrenders, as the kids gave a victory shout.
Satoshi Ohno, Aiba’s favorite nurse, or better yet, the hospital’s favorite nurse, is incredibly good at his job. He is great with children, adored by the elderly, fiercely patient and the epitome of calmness. Though he may seem dazed or absentminded at times, when the situation turns into an emergency, nurse Ohno is sharp and reliable. He is also adorably cute and endearing-- his chubby cheeks and round eyes are not one to ignore—nurse Ohno became the go-to-teddy bear of both patients and colleagues.
“Ah he’s at it again.”
A smooth soothing voice disturbed Aiba from watching nurse Ohno. “He’s really amazing with kids.” The handsome chief of the Surgical department, Dr. Matsumoto, amusedly appreciates. His eyes not leaving the subject of his attention one bit.
As Aiba follows the doctor’s gaze, he can’t help but notice the obvious affection Dr. Matsumoto has for nurse Ohno. This is not the first-time Aiba had seen the doctor give Ohno such a sweet look, not to mention sometimes sultry. Matsumoto has this kind of look that turns overly adoring, distinctly protective and indescribably loving all at the same time. Because of that, Aiba’s silly cupid heart would always flutter with the idea of shipping them together.
Dr. Matsumoto would definitely be a wonderful partner for nurse Ohno.
Sadly, Aiba’s cupid dreams will forever be left unfulfilled, because of the single gold band on Dr. Matsumoto’s ring finger.

“Nuurse Shiii-chaaan!!!!! Wheerreee are youuu??” An excited four-year-old girl singsongs through the hospital, walking with swaying hands enclosed securely in her father’s.
“Let’s go ask nurse Aiba! He might know where our favorite Shii-chan is.” Dr. Matsumoto suggests.
Aiba turns around soon as he heard his name, ready to greet Mia, the daughter of Dr. Matsumoto with a charming smile.
Mia tugged on the scrub suit of Aiba asking, “Excuuusse me… nurse Aiba-chan do you know where nurse Shii-chan is?”
Unable to help himself from squeaking happily at how cute the little girl is, Aiba crouched down to her level pointing towards the patient recovery ward. Mia followed Aiba’s finger, there spotting the nurse she was looking for.
“Shii-chaaan!!” The girl gleefully announced. “Shii-chan’s there dad!!!” running along her way to hug the oblivious nurse.
Matsumoto followed his beckoning daughter, clearly delighted at the surprised look on nurse Ohno’s face. Not once did the doctor noticed the suspicious stare Aiba’s sending his way.
Aiba may ship Dr. Matsumoto and nurse Ohno secretly, but he is against the incessant flirting the doctor is showing Ohno. It is not a secret to the entire hospital that the King, that’s what the hospital staff calls Dr. Matsumoto, is already off the market. Well, who wouldn’t know when the man unashamedly parades his wedding ring and daughter around? But the doctor simply won’t stop flooding unnecessary affection towards their adorable nurse! Ever since Ohno arrived at the Hospital, three years ago, Dr. Matsumoto had turned lovestruck towards the nurse, to a point that he even uses his daughter to get closer and spend time with the man.
Scrunching his forehead at the soft caress Matsumoto gave Ohno’s cheeks, Aiba couldn’t stop the grimace forming on his face when the shameless doctor placed an arm around the nurse’s waist, stealing a kiss on his chubby cheek.

“I can’t believe it myself...”
“How could he do that!”
“He’s got us all fooled!!”
Whispered gossip greeted Aiba’s morning shift. He tried to ignore it the first few minutes, but when the names Ohno and Matsumoto kept popping out, he couldn’t keep his curiosity intact.
“What?! You saw Dr. Matsumoto and nurse Ohno kissing by the fire exit?!” Aiba gasped in horror.
“Not only that,” Ayane the medical technician whispered to Aiba, “Kame caught them last night in a compromising position inside the doctor’s quarters.”
Aiba scowled deeply not liking the stories one bit. He refuses to believe that his beloved nurse is turning out to be a homewrecker! Having an affair with a married man who has a daughter is revolting even for someone as cute and endearing as Ohno.

As the head nurse and a friend to both Ohno and Matsumoto, Aiba took it upon himself to do something about the blooming love affair between those two. Aiba simply couldn’t let something so wrong from happening, he also doesn’t want any of them to get hurt by participating in that kind of love.
Aiba is marching purposefully to where he has assigned Ohno, when a booming thud followed by the wailing of children brought panic to him. Hastily, Aiba sets foot in the pediatric ward gasping at the sight of the instrument cabinet fallen over a groaning nurse Ohno.
Aiba pushed the heavy cabinet off of the fallen nurse, quickly performing the basic examination for blunt trauma.
“Aiba-san…” Ohno whispered, shifting about painfully to push himself up to a seating position.
“Don’t move too much.” Aiba instructed, but Ohno paid him no heed, extending his arms to welcome the whimpering children.
“Oh-chan!!!!” the kids cried out, moving past Aiba to hug their favorite nurse.
Ohno grinned at them comfortingly, patting each of their heads to appease their worries. “I’m okay, there’s no need to worry.” He assures, slowly standing up but quickly pales at the action as his vision doubles.
“Take it easy Ohno-kun...” Aiba steadies the nurse. “Let’s get you to the ER and have you checked, okay?”

“Aiba-san… I’m okay.” Ohno mumbled, trying to get the attention of the fussing nurse.
Aiba shakes his head, not buying Ohno’s self-assessment. “No you’re not. I’m not letting you get back on duty unless you get cleared by the doctor.”
“And I agree with Aiba-chan.” Dr. Ninomiya, the ER’s resident trauma physician enters the examination room. “We can’t have you moving around without proper diagnosis.” He explains, picking up instruments to conduct the medical exam.
Five minutes through the examination, the room’s door busted open as hospital staff after hospital staff came flooding in.
“Is Ohno-san alright?!”
“I heard what happened! What can we do to help!”
“I brought an ice pack, I heard he’s got bruises.”
“Has he gone to CT?”
Dr. Ninomiya tried to answer each question with his own findings, but before he could even form a coherent sentence, more and more personnel filled the room asking one question too many. As more people arrived, the room soon became an action-packed space, each person wanting to express their desire to help, check and evaluate the health of their lovable nurse.
Annoyed at being cut off and disregarded, Dr. Ninomiya roared for them to stop, stressing that he is the doctor in charge and that all of them are just becoming a nuisance to his procedure.
“Now I want you all to get-“
But Ninomiya was once again disrupted.
“Satoshi!” Dr. Matsumoto anxiously yelled, making all heads turn his way.
Ohno warmly smiled at the sight of the worried doctor.
“I’m okay Jun-kun.” He weakly assures, gesturing for the doctor to enter.
Murmurs filled the room as they watch the two interact.
Dr. Matsumoto went near the lying nurse, only stopping at an arm’s reach when nurse Aiba got in his way.
“No!” Aiba sternly reprimands, pushing Dr. Matsumoto away from nurse Ohno. “You two must stop this right now!”
Nurse Aiba faced the surprised doctor showing clear displeasure at the protectiveness and love Matsumoto is projecting. Scowling while placing his hands akimbo, executes his lecture.
"A married man flirting with a single nurse is highly inappropriate Dr. Matsumoto!" Aiba began, "I can't believe you would even think of doing something so scandalous as that! Did you even think about Mia?!"
"But Aiba-chan-" Ohno tried to cut the ranting man.
"Don't Aiba-chan me! I may think the two of you looks cute together but I can never tolerate adultery!”
"Nurse Aiba-“ Matsumoto tried this time, but he got completely ignored by the head nurse. Aiba was so engrossed with explaining why Matsumoto and Ohno must stop their affair that he failed to notice Ohno’s glassy eyes nor his distressful groaning.
The sharp movement of Dr. Matsumoto reaching for a basin so that Ohno could hurl in halted Aiba’s tirade. Side stepping the stunned nurse, Matsumoto reached out to comfortingly rub Ohno’s back.
“Oh-chan shouldn’t be left alone. Someone needs to look after him.” one staff blurted, placing the room back into concerned chaos.
"We should call his family and tell them what happened."
"Ohno-kun, who's your emergency contact person?"
Ohno weakly voiced Dr. Matsumoto’s name, but no one paid serious attention to his answer.
"Stop the jokes Ohno-kun, this is already an emergency!"
"Hey, I am his-"
"No! Not now Dr. Matsumoto!” The resident radiologist reprimanded. “Aiba-chan’s right, you know. You have got to stop the flirting."
"But he really is- "
"If you have no one to care for you, I volunteer myself.” Chinen, a nurse from the OB department eagerly suggests.
"Enough!!!” Bellowed an exasperated Dr. Matsumoto. “I'M.HIS.HUSBAND!! I will take care of him!" The doctor announced, silencing everyone.
Dr. Matsumoto ran a hand through his face. "See? This is why I always tell you to wear the wedding ring." He reproached his blushing nurse. “This feels like high school all over again.” Matsumoto murmured, picking up the fallen pillow to fluff for Ohno to lie on.
The room was in a standstill, stupefied at the news they have just obtained.
"You know why I don’t wear it.” Ohno replied, “The ring always gets stuck with the surgical gloves.” He pouted cutely, snuggling comfortably on the pillow placed behind him. Dr. Matsumoto sighed fondly at his stubborn husband. He placed a soft kiss on his forehead before facing the gaping crowd.
“Now,” Dr. Matsumoto turned, steadily challenging all eyes focused on him. “Can I now take care of my husband in peace?” he intimidatingly asked.
The heads nodded all at the same time.
“Very well then… LEAVE!!” the doctor ordered, sending every hospital staff inside the room scrambling away.
“Aiyaa… you two have done it again.” Dr. Ninomiya sighed with a sarcastic hand clap, “Next time, Jun-kun, tell everyone that you’re married beforehand. Look what you’ve done to him.” he pointed at the stiff figure of nurse Aiba who’s eyes are in a turbulent state of unbelief, face a glowing red of shame and realization; he is obviously seconds away from combusting at the information he had received.
Dr. Ninomiya exhaustedly shook his head as nurse Aiba stuttered ‘Hu-hu-husband?!?’ comically fainting face first from shock.

“We’re sorry Aiba-chan… We didn’t mean to confuse you.” Ohno gently placed the cold compress on the nurse’s sore forehead.
Aiba shook his head, eyes sparkling with delight at the awareness that his two favorite people in the hospital are indeed together. “No need to say sorry Oh-chan, I was just surprised by the news, but now I’m elated. You two are really together!” he cheered.
Ohno giggled at his friend/colleague’s giddy reaction. After finding his composure from the jaw-dropping revelation of Dr. Matsumoto, nurse Aiba immediately begged his two friends’ forgiveness for his inappropriate lecture. The couple simply brushed off his unnecessary admonishment, settling with the truth that Aiba is simply a concerned friend and colleague. Finally getting over his abashment and after receiving the heartfelt forgiveness from Ohno and Matsumoto, Aiba went all out with gushing about his favorite couple.
Diagnosed with a mild concussion, Ohno is required to stay under hospital observation for 24 hours, while Jun finishes his necessary rounds. This left Ohno with the task of satisfying Aiba’s excitement.
“I see you’re recovering well Ohno-kun.” a visitor greeted them by the door, “Look who’s here to visit.” the man went in, holding the hand of an anxious Mia.
“Toushii-chan!!” Mia ran in the open arms of her father a stem of white rose in hand. “For you.” She offers, climbing Ohno’s bed.
“Sho-niichan said you got hurt…” she concernedly vocalized, touching the band aid on Ohno’s temple.
Ohno patted her head, bumping his nose with her for an eskimo kiss. “I’m okay sweetie. Papa treated me.” he gently answered his daughter.
Aiba blissfully beamed at the affection from Ohno to Mia. Turns out, Matsumoto and Ohno are her legal parents. They adopted the little girl when she was just a baby, two years after their marriage. And to Aiba’s pleasure, he found out that the couple is already six years married, they got hitched right after college.
“You must be nurse Aiba?” the man who came with Mia inquired.
Getting a good look at the man, Aiba observed his gentle eyes, perfectly shaped jaw line, and awfully soft looking lips. “I’m Sakurai Sho, Jun’s cousin and the head of Internal Medicine department. I’ve heard a lot about you Aiba-san.” Sho informed the startled nurse with a twinkle in his eye.
Aiba could feel the heat rushing to his face making him blush. “Ah- I- Um-“ Aiba stuttered.
Sho chuckled at the bashful man. “Well, I’m gonna assure you that you’re not the only who gave them “the talk.” He informed, winking encouragingly at Aiba. “So why don’t you come to dinner with me, and let’s laugh at how we embarrassed ourselves before these two love birds.”
“Go ahead and sweep him off his feet Sho-kun, heaven knows you look good together.” Matsumoto disturbed, smirking. It’s Sho’s turn to turn tomato red.
“It- It’s a date then.” Aiba merrily gave his response.
Sho raised his hand for Aiba to take, who gladly accepted. As they walk out of the room, Aiba glanced just in time to see dr. Matsumoto, carry his excited daughter in one hand, as he gives Ohno a sweet long kiss on the lips.

Chapter 2
The first time Jun saw him, he was seating by the blooming Sakura tree serenely watching the baseball club play their last game for the season. Jun was sulking that day, he was supposed to be playing with the team, but his untimely accident that injured his left wrist prevented him from doing so.
That led to his current state of utter depression as he painfully watch his team win the game without him. Although Jun was brooding, the sight of this cute boy before his eyes couldn’t stop his emotion from stirring fondly. Jun was so mesmerized by the sleepy looking eyes, pinch worthy chubby cheeks, and soft hair that tousles freely with the wind, that Jun didn’t even notice the game end. What brought him out of his trance was the loud applause of the audience and the announcement that his team won the championship, to his bitter taste.
Breathing his final sigh of disappointment, Jun decided to finally stop being sad and face his teammates. He will congratulate them for winning, they deserve it anyway. But first, he will approach the cute boy to get his number so that they can be friends.
However, before Jun could even make a move, the boy had already left, leaving him frustrated and forlorn.

The second time Jun saw the cute kid, he was standing near the school gate anxiously shifting from one foot to another. Filled with determination and longing for the boy who has occupied his mind for the past three weeks, Jun ambled resolutely for the cute boy.
Jun was about a foot away when this pale kid with jet black hair and the same height as Jun’s crush, stole his attention. This pale kid who talks familiarly with the cute boy made Jun felt annoyed and irritate. It irks Jun that the pale kid has got the cute boy’s focus and not him. Jun is greatly displeased that this pale kid knows who the cute boy is when he doesn’t.
That is when Jun decided to steel himself push through the last foot that divides him and cute boy. Courageously Jun tapped the cute boy’s shoulder making him turn around. What Jun was not expecting is a pair of round innocent eyes and pouty lips with an adorable gentle smile to greet him.
Starstrucked, Jun lost his ability to speak standing frozen before his crush.
“Um, yes?” the cute boy softly asked. And Jun could almost melt at how melodious that voice is.
“Ah- Um- Hi!” Jun dumbly replied with a hand wave. Realizing his stupidity, he immediately followed the introduction with his name and year in school.
Surprised and at the same time amused at the man who introduced himself, the cute boy released a series of lovely giggles that further deepened Jun’s admiration.
There Jun realized he was definitely lovestruck.

After that graceless meeting, Jun learned that the cute boy’s name is Ohno Satoshi and he’s in the same year as he. Although the reason why they rarely see each other was because Ohno’s too quiet to be noticed in class. According to Ohno, he’s either asleep half of the time or doodling silly characters in his artbook. Jun also found out that Ohno is an orphan and that the pale kid who’s always with him is his adopted brother whose name is Ninomiya Kazunari.
Ohno and Jun quickly became best friends, sticking close to each other in and out of school. And Jun thought he’s already content with the way things are between him and Ohno. He didn’t mind the blooming feelings he has for Ohno, telling himself that having the man as a friend is enough.
However, when their 3rd year of Highschool began, Ohno’s name became known at school because of his amazing art skills. And this fame brought out persistent suitors of both genders who finally noticed the handsome and adorable features of Ohno.
It was then that Jun began to feel discontent at only being a friend to Ohno. Feelings of wanting to have Ohno blossomed inside Jun.
“Ohno-kun, please accept these…” one of the girls from their class shyly presented her handmade chocolates.
Ohno smiled gratefully at the girl but refused the offer. A peculiar habit of the man. Ohno has never accepted any of the gifts or propositions presented to him. Sick as it may sound, that habit gave Jun the feeling of satisfaction and security that Ohno isn’t giving himself away to anyone… yet. Because Jun has got to admit that the thought of Ohno being in a relationship with someone (other than himself) brings bitter aftertaste to his tongue.
He doesn’t like it one bit.
And so, Jun’s decided that he will be the only man for Ohno, because who else is good enough for to care, to love and to protect Ohno? That is when Jun realized, he is truly in love with the man and he prays with all his might, Ohno is in love with him too.
Jun plans to confess at the fireworks festival three days from now.

“Jun-kun over here!!”
Jun ran to where the waving Ohno is. They will be having a picnic while waiting for the fireworks show. He’s carrying with him a small basket of onigiri that he took the time and effort to make special for Ohno. Tonight is the night Jun will confess, and he can only hope that he will not be rejected. He has fallen so deeply in love with Ohno, Jun doesn’t even want to imagine a future without the man close to him. That is why tonight, he will make sure that Ohno will be officially his.
He had already gotten the permission from Nino to confess, and Nino supportively gave in provided Jun promises never to hurt Ohno or make him cry. Jun did not only promise, he swore and vowed to do just that, earning the approval of Nino. “Make him happy then.” Nino had said.
“What’s on your mind Jun-kun?” Ohno asked, noticing the distant look on his friend’s face. Jun’s level of anxiety rose beyond normal at the sight of Ohno’s concerned eyes. He could feel his heart beating erratically and his hands growing cold. Still, Jun forced to keep his composure, not wanting to screw this given opportunity.
“I’m just… amazed…” Jun replied.
Puzzled at Jun’s answer, Ohno inquired, “Amazed at what?”
“Amazed at how… how beautiful you are Ohno-kun…”
Jun’s reply caused Ohno to blush, and Jun has decided that he liked how Ohno’s adorable cheeks turned pinkish.
“Thank- Thank you…” Ohno bashfully answered.
The air between them turned a little awkward causing Jun to rake his head for an idea to change loosen up the atmosphere.
“Here!” Jun clumsily grabbed offered the basket of onigiri, opening it up for Ohno to see. “Let’s eat!” he invites.
Ohno chuckled at Jun’s antics. He picked up an onigiri, took a bite, then exclaimed his favorite phrase: “Umaii!”
Jun is pleased.

The fireworks were about to begin, and Jun couldn’t stop himself from fidgeting. This is the moment he’s been waiting for, the moment he will confess his feelings to Ohno.
As soon as the festival music began, preparing the countdown for the fireworks show, Jun bravely took hold of Ohno’s hand.
Startled at the action, Ohno faced Jun to ask what’s wrong. But before Ohno could get a word out, Jun entwined his fingers with Ohno’s bringing the hand close to his lips.
“Ohno-kun,” he began. “We’ve known each other for two years now. And I think it’s time I let you know about my feelings for you.” Jun swallowed dryly, praying that he wouldn’t babble. “From the first time I saw you, sitting peacefully under the Sakura tree at our school grounds, I have been helplessly in love with you. Now that I got to know you better, my feelings for you also grew stronger. That is why, I want to ask, will you allow me to love you completely?... Will you be my boyfriend?”
Jun can feel his hands tremble in anticipation for Ohno’s answer. Ohno’s face is showing understanding, and that is a good sign. But Jun wants to know if that understanding will make or break his heart.
A warm hand was placed on the side of Jun’s face as Jun made eye contact with Ohno. Ohno’s lips curved upwards into a lovely smile, and Jun thought his heart had stopped at the words that followed:
“I was just waiting for you to ask Jun-kun.”
Tears of happiness and relief spilled out of Jun. He couldn’t contain the joy and satisfaction at finally being allowed to call Ohno his. He beamed the biggest smile he has ever given anyone, tugging the man of his affection close to his chest for a tight hug as the first firework crackled into the night sky.
“I love you too.” Ohno whispered into Jun’s embrace, basking into Jun’s comforting presence. Ohno’s voice is filled with adoration and fondness.
Unable to bear his emotion any longer, Jun dipped his head towards Ohno’s, placing his soft lips parallel to his lover for a heartwarming kiss.
“I will never hurt you. I will protect you and care for you always. I love you Satoshi.” Jun promised with all of his heart.

I love how you placed the first chapter in Aiba’s POV. The “homewrecker” one made me laugh so much. It’s so him to misunderstand such things but who could blame him, I mean… *looks at Oh-chan* sometimes, our good old jii-chan should speak up from time-to-time hahaha
Then, the nickname, “Shii-chan”, oh my! I also want to call Ohno that hahaha and the favorite nurse of the hospital, I’m gonna shower you with lots of hearts for making him the star of that hospital.
I also love the subtle way of introducing the relationship of Jun and Ohno through the rumors of them flirting and kissing in the unseen places inside the hospital (Hold up you two! Please do your work properly! LOL). And Jun (omg!) it’s so him to gush and adore Ohno all over. The way he shouted, “I’m his husband” — that made me “kyaa!” Haa… gave me a good dose of sweetness that might last for a month (thanks for that!)
Chapter 2 is as sweet as chapter 1 — Jun falling in love at first sight huhuhu YESS! YESS!! That man is completely nuts for Ohno. Plus, the way he confessed, isn’t he the sweetest and most romantic man in the world hahaha
So once again, thank you for writing this!! I read in the author’s notes about your family and I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you’re doing well.
